Cheesy Hamburger Potato Casserole

Can you say comfort food?  This Cheesy Hamburger Potato Casserole recipe will please the pickiest eater. Easy and yummy. Another recipe by Mom & Me. Let us know how it turns out.


Cheesy Hamburger and Potato Casserole
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • ½ cup chopped onions
  • 3 cups (about 2 pounds) thinly sliced potatoes
  • 1 can Cream of Mushroom soup
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheese
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  1. Preheat oven to 350º.
  2. Lightly grease or spray 2 quart baking dish.
  3. In medium skillet, cook the onions and ground beef until done. Drain the grease.
  4. Slice the potatoes thin. I used a mandolin slicer. The skins can be left on if thin skin or peeled.
  5. In a medium bowl, mix together the milk, soup, salt and pepper.
  6. Layer half of the potatoes, half of the soup mixture, sprinkle 1 cup cheese and then layer the hamburger meat.
  7. Repeat with the rest of the potatoes, soup, cheese and hamburger meat.
  8. Cover and bake for 1 hour or until the potatoes are tender. If the potatoes are sliced a little thicker it may take an extra half hour.
