Chicken Lettuce Wraps

I made Chicken Lettuce Wraps for a get-together at our house. I had never made them before, but they turned out amazing. Better than P.F. Chang’s.

I used Romaine lettuce, because I thought it would hold the chicken mixture nicely.

Chicken Lettuce Wraps
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 2 cloves garlic , minced
  • 1 onion , diced
  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger , grated
  • 1-2 tablespoons Sriracha
  • 1 small can water chestnuts , chopped
  • 2 green onions , chopped
  • Sea salt and fresh ground pepper , to taste
  • 1 head romaine lettuce
  1. In a large skillet, warm oil over medium-high heat.
  2. Add ground chicken and cook about 5 minutes. Make sure to crumble as it cooks.
  3. Drain excess fat.
  4. Stir in garlic, onion, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, vinegar, ginger and Sriracha. Saute until onions become translucent, about 2 minutes.
  5. Stir in water chestnuts and green onions until tender, about 2 minutes.
  6. Salt and pepper, to taste.
  7. Spoon a few tablespoons of chicken mixture into the center of each leaf of lettuce (like a taco).
  8. Serve with Chinese Dipping Sauce.

Chinese Dipping Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon Sriracha
  • 2 tablespoons green onions , chopped
  • 1 tablespoons Chinese hot mustard
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seed oil
  1. In a small sauce pan, mix all ingredients over medium-heat.
  2. Reduce heat and let simmer about 10 minutes.
