Italian Bread Dip

An important part of any Italian meal is bread. We like to serve our pasta with bread and dipping sauces. I love pesto, but Jerry prefers olive oil & balsamic vinegar.

Although I intend to make homemade pesto at some point, it just seems too easy to pick up a jar at the store.

Italian Bread Dip
Ingredients
  • A few spoons basil pesto (homemade or from a jar)
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Balsamic vinegar
  • Shredded parmesan cheese
Instructions
  1. Use sauce dishes or small serving dish.
  2. Spoon some basil pesto onto serving dish.
  3. Cover generously with olive oil.
  4. Pour a teaspoon or two of balsamic vinegar to one side.
  5. Sprinkle parmesan cheese on top.
  6. Serve with bread of choice.

Dip the Bread

Sometimes I serve the dipping oils separate. I put olive oil on a plate and pour balsamic vinegar on top. The other dish will have pesto covered with olive oil and sprinkled with parmesan cheese.
