Garlic Cheesy Bread Knots

I try not to eat too many carbs. But, I am such a sucker for fresh baked bread. Maybe, its the raw dough that keeps me interested in making breads.

Garlic Cheesy Bread Knots
  • ¼ cup butter
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 Tbs active dry yeast
  • 1 Tbs honey
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 egg
  • 3½ cups flour
  • 4 Tbs butter
  • 1 tsp garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp oregano
  • ½ tsp basil
  • ½ tsp parsley
  • 2 Tbs shredded Parmesan cheese
  1. Melt ¼ cup butter in a small sauce pan.
  2. Add milk and heat to 100º-110º. Use a kitchen thermometer. It is very important to get to the correct temperature or the yeast will not activate.
  3. Pour the butter and milk into a large mixing bowl. Add honey, then sprinkle yeast on top of the mixture.
  4. Let stand for about 10 minutes, until it gets foamy.
  5. Mix in salt and egg.
  6. Slowly add flour, until the dough balls and does not stick to the side of the bowl.
  7. Shape dough into knots and place on lightly greased cookie sheet.
  8. Preheat oven to 400º
  9. Let dough rest for 10 minutes.
  10. While dough is resting, melt 4 tablespoons of butter and add the seasonings.
  11. Before baking, brush the knotted dough with the butter and season mixture.
  12. Sprinkle with cheese.
  13. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until golden brown.
  14. Serve fresh from the oven.

Garlic Cheesy Bread Knots

You don’t have to use fresh garlic, garlic powder would work too. And, Italian season could be substituted for the herbs.
